Hellen Keller wrote a story called " Frost King" for Mr. Anagnos of the Perkins Institution for the blind. It turned into a terrible incident, because he accused her of plagiarizing it, as it appeared to be similar to a story called " Frost Faries", which was read out to her in her childhood and was written by Miss. Margaret T Canby. A court of investigation was constituted, that consisted of eight people, four blind, and four people with vision, and there were to decide on the basis of voting to arrive to a conclusion. Mr. Anagnos voted against Helen, which scarred her to such an extent, that she could never again produce any creative work. She became excessively scrupulous against everything that she wrote, because of which Miss Sullivan had to console her to restore her confidence, and urged by her Helen resumed writing again.

The controversy
concerning 'The Frost King' was an agonizing experience in Helen's life. Helen
was charged with plagiarism. It was said that Helen had copied the theme of her
story from 'Frost Fairies', by Miss Margaret T. Cabby. Even Mr. Anagnos, the
director of Perkins Institute doubted Helen. Mr. Anagnos's behaviour towards
Helen was not justified. In spite of initial sympathy with her and believing
her side of the situation, he changed his stance. The night before the
celebration of Washington's birthday, one of the teachers of Perkins Institute
talked to Helen regarding "The Frost King". Helen told her that Miss
Sullivan had narrated her the story about Jack Frost and her wonderful works.
Something she said made the teacher think she was confessing that she had
copied her plot from Miss Canby's story of 'The Frost Fairies'. She conveyed
her conclusions to Mr. Anagnos who thought he had been deceived by Helen. He
also began suspecting Helen and Miss Sullivan had stolen the story.
