polo , game played on horseback between two terms of four player each who use mallets with long , flexible handless to drive a wooden ball down a grass field and between two goals posts . it is the oldest is equestrian sports . polo is the central game of Asian origin , polo was first played in Persia at dates given from the 6 th century BC to the first century AD.
