One of the key organelles involved in digestion and waste removal is the lysosome. Lysosomes are organelles that contain digestive enzymes. They digest excess or worn out organelles, food particles, and engulfed viruses or bacteria. Lysosomes are like the stomach of the cell.

Lysosomes contain enzymes that digest the unwanted materials in the cells . The enzymes in lysosomes can digest anything in the cells . During emergency the lysosomes digest the cells in which it stays . Such emergency may include mutation of the cell which may cause cancer , the lysosomes also digest the cells if they are not functioning properly and become old etc. That's why lysosomes are called as suicidal bags of the cells. The nutrients which comes after digestion or suicide of the cells are absorbed by the surrounding cells.
