Magadh Empire was ruled by three dynasties Haryunka dynasty, Saisunga dynasty and Nanda dynasty. Haryunka Dynasty:-Bimbisara and Ajatasatru were most prominent Kings under their regime prosperity of Magadh reached its zenith. Both embraced Jainism & Buddhism.

Saisunga Dynasty:- Saisunga defeated king of Avanti, which was part of Magadh empire. After him, mighty empire began to collapse. His successor was Kakavarman who was later killed by founder by Nanda empire.
Nanda Dynasty:-Mahapadma Nanda was the most powerful among Nandas. Known for his military campagins, was succeded by eight sons. Last Nanda ruler was Dhana Nanda he possessed enormous wealth and powerful army, but his opressive taxation policies was resented by the people. Taking advantage of which Chandragupta Maurya & Kautilya initiated popular movement against him and succeeded.
