About the author of Two Gentlemen of Verona : AJ Cronin (1896-1981) was a doctor by training. He practised medicine in Wales and in London, but soon he started writing. His best known novel is the Citadel (1937), the story of a doctor from a Walsh mining village who quickly establishes himself as a doctor in London. He wrote a number of novels and short stories. Some of his Novel have been made into successful films.
