Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875. He was born in Nadiad, Gujarat to Jhaverbhai (father) and Laad bai (mother).

He was a political and social leader of India who played a major role in the freedom struggle of India and subsequently guided its integration into united and independent nation.

He is given the title of 'Ironman of India' and was iften referred to as 'Sardar' meaning leader.

He became the most influential leader in Gujarat during the non-violent Civil Disobedience movement started by Gandhiji. He organised the peasants of Kheda, Borsad and Bordali in the Disobedience movement.

He rose to leadership of Indian National Congress and was at the forefront of rebellions and political events and promoting Quit India Movement.

He became the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India and organised for the relief of refugees in Punjab and Delhi.
