let an object of mass m be moving with a initial velocity 'u' and final velocity 'v'

initial momentum=mu

final momentum= mv

change in momentum=mv-mu

rate of change of momentum=mv-mu/t

=m(v-u) /t

but v-u/t = a

so rate of change of momentum =ma

according to Newton's second law of motion force is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum.

force~ma

force=kma ( where K is the proportionality constant and its value is 1)

f=ma
