Hio....

♦Cross Cutting differences

•Groups that share common interest on one issue are likely to be on different sides on a different issue
•In Netherlands the groups that had differences were Christians i.e both shared a common interest. But they were divided into Catholics and protestants.
•In Netherlands, class and religion tend to cut across each other. They are equally likely to be rich or poor, but they have conflicts between them.

♦ Overlapping differences

•Takes place when some differences overlaps with other differences
•Blacks in Africa (like Dalits in India) tended to be poor, homeless and discriminated. This difference turned into a social division
•One kind of social difference becomes important than the other and people start feeling that they belong to different communities

Hope you are able to understand it now...

In northern Ireland's basically catholics are poor and in Netherlands both are equal
cross cutting difference means they share a common interest on one thing and different on other thing
That difference completely leads to social divisions
