In accordance to Newton's Second Law,Force is in fact the rate of change of linear momentum. So momentum is directly proportional to force applied and takes place in the direction of force.

According to newtons second law

We know, momentum (p)=mv

Suppose a body is moving along straight line with velocity u and v. So the p1=mu, p2=mv

So change in p varies p2-p1

mv-mu

m (v-u)

Rate of change of momentum

m (v-u)/t

Or applied force

F varies m (v-u)/t

F=km (v-u)/t

F=kma. [a is acceleration and k is constant of proportionality the unit of force is chosen the value of k becomes 1 so 1 unit of force=k×1kg×1m/s2]

So the value ofk is 1

F=ma
