Hey dear,

● Answer -
Calcium carbide

● Reaction -
- Calcium carbide reacts with water to liberate acetylene gas. Calcium hydroxide is formed as byproduct.
CaC2 + 2H20 ---> C2H2 + 2Ca(OH)2

● Extra information -
- Raw product (calcium carbide) is obtained from carbothermic reduction of lime at 2000 °C.
- This process is used for preparation of acetylene in laboratory as well as industries.
- Acetylene gas thus produced is used for oxy-acetylene wielding, automobile part manufacturing and fabrication of other metal parts.

Hope this helps you...
