The most noted accomplishment of Humayun can be seen in the sphere of painting. He was devoted to the early Safavid School. His dedication to this school at the time of his staying in Iran. His dedication led him to recruit Persian artists of excellence to bring him back to India.  

Hambly (a historiographer) wrote that the foundation stone of the Mughal style was laid down by these artists. This style included  Indian elements combined harmoniously with the cultures of Central Asia and Iran.
