Samudra Gupta was one of the greatest among all Gupta Kings. His reign extended from 335-375 AD. He is called as Indian Nepoleon of that era. The only authentic sources for any information about him is Allahabad Pillar Inscription (or Prayag Prasasthi or Kaushambhi pillar inscription; authored by Harisen and inscribed by Tilak Bhatta).
Samudra Gupta declared himself Dauhitra (grand son) of Lichchavi to gain sympathetic confidence of the people for conquering it. The inscription talks about his imperialistic policies like Asur Vijay (annexation), Grahanmokshanugrah (conquest -> liberate defeated king -> reinstate the defeated one on throne and get his support), and Sarvakardan Kanyopan (all taxes given by kings forgiven or conquest by marriage).
The political goal of Samudragupta was Dharnibandhan i.e., to unify / bound the land / earth. Thus political unification of whole Indian land.
He conquered North India. It included 9 Naga kings. Malava, Shivi, Yoddheya, Arjunayana, Prarjuna, Kak, Kharpatik were won and all were republican states. His tribal conquests included Mahakantar territories from Jabalpur to Mahanadi river valley. He also won some Pratyant (boundary) states like Samtatha (Bengal), Davaka, Kaamroop (Assam), Nepal and Kirtarpur (Punjab).
He won some North Eastern kingdoms by Kanyopan like Saka, Devputra Shahanushahi, and Murunda.
Samudra Gupta kept only North Indian conquests under his direct sovereignty, others he kept in suzreign rule.
He also performed Ashwamedha Yajna and issued Gold coins on the occasion of this yajna. Thus, they were called Ashwamedha type of coins.
Hope this helps. You can refine it further if you like. Also, mark it brainliest if you find it useful. Thanks.
