A sentence is written in active voice when the subject of the sentence performs the action in the sentence. e.g. The girl was washing the dog. A sentence is written in passive voice when the subject of the sentence has an action done to it by someone or something else. e.g. The dog was being washed by the girl.

Hope this helps you

Answer:

Active Voice:

when you're speaking or writing in active voice, you're basically being doer-oriented. In other words, your sentences start with the doer's mention instead of the object's.

Example -:

  • Reema sang a song beautifully.

(here, you are focused on Reema, the doer, instead of her action, the song.)

  • Shahreen played the trumpet.

Again, you first made the mention of the doer, i.e, Shahreen.

Passive Voice

While you are writing or speaking in passive voice, you are being object-oriented. So, you make the mention of object before the doer.

Examples -:

  • A song was sung by Reema beautifully.

Here, the object, i.e, song is mentioned before Reema.

  • The trumpet was played by Shahreen.

Here again, the object, trumpet comes before the doer.

Some Things To Remember

While you are changing from active to passive or vice-versa, just remember to make the object as the subject or the subject as the object, respectively.

Example:

Active voice:

Rahul (subject) threw a ball (object)

Passive voice:

A ball (subject) was thrown by Rahul (object).

I hope you understood :)
