Make a hole in a piece of wood or cardboard (refer to the diagram given) and pass a wire through it. Pass current through the wire. Before that, put some iron powder on the cardboard haphazardly. As soon as you switch on the current, you will notice that the iron dust gets arranged in form of concentric rings. This is because a magnetic field is formed.
