AD is an altitude of an isosceles triangle ABC in which AB=AC. Show that -
1) AD bisects BC
2) AD bisects angle A

given:an isosceles triangle ABC in which AB=AC

To prove: 1. AD bisect BC

2. AD bisect angle A

proof : IN Triangle ABD and triangle ADC

AB=AC (given )

angle B =angle C (two angles are equal in isosceles triangle )

AD=AC (common)

triangle ABC congruent triangle ADC

By cpct BD =DC so , AD bisect BC

and again by cpct angle BAD=angle CAD

therefore AD bisect angle A

hence proved
