adaptation in plants and animals
Answers
Answer:
Plants have adaptations to help them survive (live and grow) in different areas. Adaptations are special features that allow a plant or animal to live in a particular place or habitat. These adaptations might make it very difficult for the plant to survive in a different place. This explains why certain plants are found in one area, but not in another. For example, you wouldn't see a cactus living in the Arctic. Nor would you see lots of really tall trees living in grasslands.
Explanation:
An adaptation is something about an animal that makes it possible for it to live in a particular place and in a particular way. It may be a physical adaptation, like the size or shape of the animal's body, or the way in which its body works. Or it may be the way the animal behaves. Each adaptation has been produced by evolution.
As the environment changes, animals that cannot adapt die out, and only the adapted ones survive to produce babies. Because babies are usually more or less like their parents, the whole species soon contains only animals that are adapted to the new environment.
An animal's environment consists of many different things. The climate is important. Whether it is hot, cold, dry, or wet will have an effect on all the creatures that live in a particular place.
Another important part of an animal's environment is what kinds of food plants grow in it. The other animals that live there also have an effect. If there are predators around, the prey animals will have to learn to defend themselves or run fast to escape.
These adaptations make it possible for a great variety of creatures to live and thrive on earth. animals adapt to the natural world.
Animals in the wild can only live in places they are adapted to. They must have the right kind of habitat where they can find the food and space they need.
- The plants have shorter stem ,so that they can avoid her harsh winds and not get knocked over, they have a wide root system in order to gather more nutrients.
- Most of the trees are cone shaped and bear cones these trees are called conifers . Stem is woody with sloping branches and needle shaped leaves, so that snow and rain water can slide off easily.
- Some mountain trees bear bright flowers so that they can attract more insect for pollination.
- Animals have a thick skin with the long hair or to protect themselves from cold, for example : Yak and mountain goat have hide with long hair . Snow leopard has a thick fur on its body including feet and toes, it protects it when walks on snow
- Animals of high peak habitat adapt of hibernation (winter sleep) aur migration to warmer areas.
- They have a shorter legs tails and ears in order to reduce heat loss.
Mountain habitats :- mountain region has two distinct habitat:-
- habitat in hill areas.
- habitat with high peaks.
The habitats in mountain region are cold and windy, soil is rocky and dry in lower hills .water is available from rivers springs and frequent rains, but in upper hills water flows down and soil remains dry.
Plants :- In mountain regions plants such as oak, deodar, fir, Cedar and spruce are common. The dense vegetation forms the forest the trunks of trees act as a habitat for Moss, algae and fern. The soil surface does not get appropriate amount of sunlight so , herbs and shrubs are common with creepers and climbers.
Animals :- The mountains provide natural habitat to a large number of animals such as :-
- Tiger
- wild got
- leopard
- polar Bears
- deer
- musk
- deer
- sheep
- yak....etc
Animals are well adapted for cold climate
