The adaption in Banyan tree is root modification....

It's a tree with huge weight hence ,it needs mechanical support to withstand it's weight....Banyan shows pillar roots or prop roots (Adventitious roots) that grow from the lateral branches of the tree in positively geotrophic manner into the soil and get fixed into the soil ... This gives mechanical support to the tree...
