We know that we can add only like terms directly & rest to keep as it is.

So,

 $(5x^{2}+3xy+2y^{2}) + ( 2y^{2} -xy + 4x^{2}$

→ $(5x^{2}+4x^{2}) + (3xy-xy) + (2y^{2} + 2y^{2})$

→   $= (9x^{2} + 2xy + 4y^{2})$

Therefore 9x² + 2xy + 4y² is the answer.
