hey dear.!
first electrons and protons were discovered by scientists J.J Thomson And E.Goldstein.
But there question arised that if atom consists of protons and electrons,though they are.oppositely charged they should get get attracted and nullify the effect cancelling this magnitudes of charges and then atoms would collapse. Then they realised that there is one more sub-atomic particle that is not giving electrons and protons to come together and to collapse the atom.
SO then came scientist Chadwick. which bombarded alpha particles on berilium or boron foil though their atomic masses are less and saw that the particle came out due to that bombarded rays . he saw it on zinc sulphide screen.
#though that particle was neutron.
