$= > \frac{4}{7} + \frac{ - 8}{9} + \frac{ - 5}{21} + \frac{1}{3} \\ \\ = > ( \frac{ - 4}{7} + \frac{ - 5}{21} ) + ( \frac{ - 8}{9} + \frac{1}{3} ) \\ \\ = > \frac{12 + ( - 5)}{21} + \frac{( - 8) + 3}{9} \\ \\ = > ( \frac{7}{21} + \frac{ - 5}{9} ) \\ \\ = > \frac{21 + ( - 35)}{63} \\ \\ = > \frac{ - 14}{63} = \frac{ - 2}{9}$

answer is -2/9 .

Dear user !!

Since addition and subtraction are associative, hence on rearranging 

the statement given we have:

4/7-8/9+1/3-8/9

=(12-5)/21 + (3-8)/9

=7/21 - 5/9

=1/3 - 5/9

=(3-5)/9
