adequate amount of oxygen and blood is required for brain to function .why?

The blood which carries oxygen is needed constantly by the brain because the neurons perform many metabolic activities.They need blood every time or else brain will be dead.

Brain's important functions are thinking, learning, memory etc. It requires adequate amount of oxygen and proper blood supply in order to perform these functions. These are also required for proper functioning of brain cells or neurons. The neurons conduct impulses to and fro from the brain.
