ANSWER:

first before doing the sum let us first know what is a additive inverse

ADDITIVE INVERSE:

if we sum of two numbers is 0

then they are called as additive inverse of each other

for example

let us consider

3 and -3

let us add them

3+(-3)=3-3=0

so they are called as additive inverse of each other

so let us write this as

 \huge  \sf{ \boxed {x + y = 0}}

now let us come to the sum

METHOD:

x=-39-(-22)

x=-17

let additive inverse =y

then

x+y=0

-17+y=0

 \boxed{y = 17}

so

 \bold{ \underline{  additive \: inverse \:  = 17}}
