Formed class , Median = 49

Step-by-step explanation:

graph attached

Marks        Studentsa

Class          f          cf

0 - 20        17         17

20 - 40      5          22

40 - 60      7          29

60 - 80      8          37

80 - 100     13         50

Median =  40 + 20(25 - 22)/7

= 40 + 60/7

= 48.6

or from graph ≈  ≈ 49  ( against 50/2 = 25 on y axis , x axis is between 48 - 50)

3 Median = Mode + 2 Mean

=> 3 * 49 = Mode + 2(52)

=> Mode = 43

Aditya decided to collect the science marks of his class. The total number of students are 50.

The required graph is attached below.

i) Form the frequency distribution table for the data

Class        Frequency

0 - 20              17

20 - 40            22

40 - 60            29

60 - 80            37

80 - 100           50

ii) Find the median marks of his class from the graph.

As the question is to find the median using the graph and not using the data provided, so we have,

N = ∑ f = 17 + 22 + 29 + 37 + 50 = 155

N/2 = 155/2 = 77.5

Therefore the median is given by,

50/2 = 25 (on y-axis)

Median = 49  (on x-axis)

(iii) Obtain the mode of the data if the mean mark is 52

We use the formula,

3 Median = Mode + 2 Mean

Given,

Mean = 52

3 × 49 = Mode + 2 × 52

147 = Mode + 104

Mode = 147 - 104

Mode = 43
