Hey Gibin,

Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Even the worst possible ones as well. I don't know what you mean by Gurukul System and I am not very knowledgeable as to what system actually was exercised.

But through my familiarity I can state the following advantages:

1. Education which empowers and not bombard with information seemed to exist

2. A happy, satisfied life was realized who took the education and learnt. Education seemed to be a tool for enhanced perception and a way of living.

3. LIFE SKILLS: Today when we have to "eat" information which we barely use during or after our formal 12years of school. The Gurukul System seemed to ensure that NO MATTER what the situation, the leaners knew how to maintain their "balance, calm, joy and grow from it".

Rama, is the perfect example. If we objectively analyse his life, he was born as a prince and that's it. Period.

He was hatred, plotted against, sent to a jungle for 14 years without the INTERNET & Electricity. Then his wife, who was a princess came with him and had to live like a "dasi".

His wife was kidnapped
He walked entire India to get his wife, break the bridge.
He had to fight an epic war, win and return
He had to put his wife away
He had to leave her pregnant with two sons
He was about to kill his own sons
He was never able to see his wife again

His Life was a disaster and yet he always remained with a sense of CALM, joy within Himself. How? He went to the GURUKUL and he mastered it.
