LPG is a carbon compound which on burning produces only CO₂ and H₂O only.
But Coal is not a carbon compound, but it is Carbon itself with some impurities which on burning leave solid residue which is not easy to dispose.

1) LPG contains very less contents of sulphur, so it burns a lot cleaner than coal. While burning coal emits harmful wastes like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphuric acid, arsenic and ash.

2) LPG burns consistently, which makes it more reliable resource of energy than coal.

3) LPG is more environment friendly with minimum sulphur contents but coal is not environment friendly as the burning of coal by factories and power industry has led to acid rain in some regions.

4) LPG is easily transported and easy to store. On the other hand transporting coal is very problematic because it requires an extensive transportation system and cause additional pollution in the form of emission from transportation vehicles.

5) LPG has high energy value than coal and also gives good flame control.

6) There is very less chances of spillage and wastage with LPG while coal has much more chances of spillage and wastage.

7) Coal mining ruins the environment and puts the lives of people specially labour class persons in danger. While there is no such risk associated with LPG.
