In India, Wheat and Rice are most consumed agricultural products. These are also considered as staple foods in most parts of the country. one of the major advantages of Rabi and Kharif crops is that they offer the security on food products. The two crops are major source of income for farmers amounting to over 40 percent of the overall production. With good amount of rainfall in the kharif and rabi season, Country also produces highest yeild of Rice and wheat annually.

1. As Rice and wheat are major agricultural produce in the nation so a big amount of these crops are also exported to other countries. This adds up to increasing economic conditions for farmers and nation alike.

2. A good produce of kharif and Rabi crops every year ensures that the food is also available for feeding the overall population of the nation.

3. In case the produce of these crops drops down due to any reacon, then the government will have to offer farmers with MSP to help overcome their losses.

This also means that overaall population of the country will have to invest more money in purchasing food products.

  • Crops of two board patterns:-

1. Kharif crops : The crops which are shown in the rainy season like June to November are called kharif crops. For example - Soyabean , ground nuts.

2. Rabi crops : The crops which grown in the winter season like October to March are called rabi crops. For example- tea , mustard.
