Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) is a developmental initiative launched by the Government of India to provide sustainable income to poorest of the poor people living in rural areas of the country. The scheme was launched on April 1, 1999.

By subsuming 6 previous programmes - IRDP(Integrated rural development program in 1980), TRYSEM, DWCRA (Development of women and children in rural areas in 1982) and one million wells Yojna , Ganga Kalyan yojna and SITRA (Supply of improved toolkits to rural artisans) this scheme was launched .

Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (S G S Y) was launched in April, 1999. 

This program provided sustainable income to the people of rural areas.

This program lies emphasis on setting up micro enterprises as per the budget of the rural people.

This program promised that within the spam of 3 years it'll bring the Below Poverty Line people to Above Poverty Line.

This yojna helped by reserving 50% of benefits for SCs/STs, 40% for women and 3% for physically handicapped persons.
