Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) is a developmental initiative launched by the Government of India to provide sustainable income to poorest of the poor people living in rural areas of the country. The scheme was launched on April 1, 1999.
By subsuming 6 previous programmes - IRDP(Integrated rural development program in 1980), TRYSEM, DWCRA (Development of women and children in rural areas in 1982) and one million wells Yojna , Ganga Kalyan yojna and SITRA (Supply of improved toolkits to rural artisans) this scheme was launched .
Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (S G S Y) was launched in April, 1999.
