Both welding and Bolting are fabrication process that joins materials, welded joints are permanent where as bolted joints can be dismantled any time.

A welded joint is made by fusion of two materials by applying extreme heat on it, either by electricity or by friction and thus make them act as a single piece. Bolted joints consist of fasteners that capture and joint other parts, and are secured with the mating of screw threads.

In a bolted connection the pieces are fastened. In a welded connection, the pieces have been welded and the Weld is actually Stronger than the separate pieces.
