Dear editor,
Did you know that drinking dirty water
can kill you? Did you know that 1.8
billion people lack access to fresh
water ? We are lucky because we can get
fresh water out of our taps every day,
but not everyone has this luxury. Water
scarcity is a big problem in many
places, especially when it comes to
fresh, clean drinking water. There are
very serious effects of drinking
contaminated water and unfortunately
many people in the world are faced
with these problems every day.Brainly.in What is your question? Water scarcity is a big problem in many places, especially when it comes to fresh, clean drinking water. There are very serious effects of drinking contaminated water and unfortunately many people in the world are faced with these problems every day. Drinking contaminated water can cause horrible side effects such as nausea, vomiting, cramps, and diarrhea. Contaminated water can cause diseases too, such as legionnaires, campylobacter, and salmonella. Many people in the world don’t have access to fresh water, so they have no choice but to drink this contaminated water. This lack of access to fresh water is sometimes called water scarcity. Water scarcity is a major problem in many regions around the word. Water scarcity already affects every continent. “1.6 billion people face an economic water shortage” For instance, in the African region, many people die from water scarcity because they can’t get access to clean water and end up drinking water that might be contaminated. “Nearly 3.4 million people die each year from water scarcity and water contamination”. When people live in places where there is water scarcity, they are unable to access clean water to drink, so water scarcity contributes to the problem of water contamination. Water scarcity happens all around the world, especially in California right now due to the severe three-year drought. To fix this problem we can use less water. Did you know that agriculture is the biggest water user? California is missing 63 trillion gallons of groundwater in the drought. “The ongoing drought in the western United States has caused so much loss of groundwater that the Earth, on average, has lifted up about 0.16 inches over the last 18 months, according to a new study,” the L.A. Times reported. Since we live in California we should really think about using less water. Many people don’t have access to clean water, and many don’t even have access to water at all. It is important for people to know about these problems so they know what is happening around in the world and so that we can be aware of how important the resource of water is. Since we are in a drought right now, we might want to think more about how to save and conserve clean water that we actually have. We are lucky to have it in the first place.
