Aftab tells his father 7 years ago I was 7 times as old as you were then also 3 years from now I shall be 3 times as old as you will be find the present age of the Aftab and his daughter using the method of substitution

Let age of father be xAnd aftab be y years.
Case 1. x - 7 = 7 ( y - 7 )
x = 7 ( y - 7 ) + 7 ........1
Case 2. x + 3 = 4 ( y + 3 ) ...........2
Put value of 1 in 2
On solving we get
x = 42 years
y = 12 years.
