After 12 years 
                           x+12=3(x-4)
                           x+12=3x-12
                           x+12-3x+12=0
                          -2x+24=0
                          -2x=-24
                         2x=24
                            x=12

verification
x+12=3(x-4)
12+12=3(12-4)
24=3(8)
24=24

therefore my present age is 12

My age was (x-4)

According to problem
(x+12)=(x-4)×3
X+12=3x-12
3x-x=12+12
2x=24
x=12

Therefore my present age is 12 years
