The prosperity of Bengal made it attractive in the phases of 16th to 18th Century. But the arrival of Britishers in India plundered it mercilessly.

It was the time after the Battle of Plassey concluded and the britishers made their move to capture the highest revenue generating state of India which was Bengal.

Bengal as Sponsored State:

The State of Bengal was founded by Alivardi khan in 1740 as he sworned as the Nawab of Bengal under the surveillance of Mughal empire. Though it was an independent state, but they pay tribute to Mughals also.

Consequently, the working of Benagl goes smoothly by Alivardi Khan from 1740 to 1756. After his death, tussle between the many started for the succession of this prosperous state.

It was Suja-ud-Daula who came to be known as teh next hier of Alivardi khan as embellished the crown of Bengal.

During his time also, many revolted against him but teh Nawab was supported by his officials. British by this time got Royal Farman and started fortifying their settlement which was not liked by the Nawab.

The Nawab's army attacked the fortifiaction and Black hole tragedy took place which raged the anger amojng British army.

Bengal as plunder state-

After the war begins, the corrupt practices of British made the Nawab to lose war and killed in the battlefield. Now the Plunder begin in terms of War indemnity they asked from the state.

The state revenue system was completely in the hand of British Officials which made the lifes of people miserable and exploited.
