The main reason for having cramps in leg muscles is beacuse of accumulation of lactic acid over there.
During vigorous exercise our body lack pure oxygen supply hence, in muscles in our muscles anaerobic respiration occurs. Which results in release of energy as well as formation of lactic acid over there. This last til is responsible for cramps then.
