after doing activity of electroplating of an iron strip, a student interchanged the connection of the electrodes. what do you think will happen?

The same process of plating iron happens but the electroplated metals resembles the metal and the metal on the other electrode becomes the metal to be electroplated.

Let’s take copper and iron and our job is to plate copper on iron and we are using a copper sulphate (cuso4) electrolyte

When the electrician is passed, copper from the copper sulphate gets plated on the iron where as copper from the copper plate gets disassociated into the copper sulphate solution. If the electrodes are interchanged, then iron will displace copper from the copper sulphate solution and turn it into iron sulphate.( thus the solution also turns from blue to green)

Now the process of electrolysis will happen but in opposite direction that is iron will get plated on copper ( as iron from iron sulphate gets plated on copper and iron from the iron plate gets disassociated to the iron sulphate)
