After knee surgery, your trainer tells you to return to your jogging program slowly. He suggests jogging for the 12 minutes each day for the first week. Each week thereafter, he suggests that you increase that time by 6 minutes per day

How many weeks will it take before you are up to jogging 60 minutes per day?

The equation for how long your are running each day is given by

12+%2B+%28w-1%296

That says in the first week, you will run 12+(1-1)6 = 12

The second week you will run 12+ (2-1)*6 = 18 minutes etc

You are asked, how many weeks before you are running for 60 minutes?

{{[RunningTime = 12 + (weeknumber -1)*6}}}

60+=+12+%2B+%28weekNumber+-1%29%2A6

48+=++%28weekNumber+-1%29%2A6

48%2F6+=+%28weekNumber+-1%29

8+=+weekNumber+-1

9+=+weekNumber

So by the 9th week, you are running for 60 minutes.

Go easy on that knee!
