Answer:

Let the profit P when there were no discount

At a discount of 40% the profit was (P/2) half of the profit at no discount

Ratio of profit (P)/P/2 = 2:1

Let the MRP 100%

At no discount SP will be 100

At a discount of 40% SP will be 60

Profit = SP - CP

Let CP X

(100-X)/(60-X) = 2/1

By solving this X = 20

For no profit or loss the discount will be (100–20) = 80%
