If you want to prevent edema, it is essential to take proper diet, take food with low salt, avoid alcohol consumption, do proper exercise and follow exercise routinely.

Edema is formerly known as hydropsy or dropsy which is considered as the swelling in the body’s tissue owing to excessive interstitial fluid retention.

The edema happens locally by affecting the extremities or else affects the whole body.

Edema is the condition due to which the tissues of the body gets swollen. This disease can affect the extremities or the whole body.

Some of the precautions that can be suggested to the people regarding this disease are listed below -

1. Reducing the intake of sodium especially common salt.

2. Prevent oneself from staying in extreme temperatures.

3. Avoid wearing tight clothes so that it does not harm the affected area (if anyone suffers from this disease).
