Given the length covered in 4 rounds of the field is = 16km.

i.e. 4*perimeter = 16 km.

perimeter = 16/4 km.

perimeter = 4 km.

Generally perimeter is the total length of the sides of a closed figure.

In this case perimeter is 4*length of side of square.

perimeter=4*a.

as perimeter in the above problem is 4 km.

then 4*a=4 km.

therefore length = 1 km.

Area of a square is A = side*side.

area=side^{2}

therefore A=4*4 sq.km.

A=4^{2} =16 km^{2}.
