In 1765,both Shah Alam and Shuja-ud-Daulah signed Treaty of Allahabad with the English Viceroy, Lord Clive;
*Under this treaty the company got the rights to collect the Diwani {i.e the revenue} from Bengal,Bihar,Orissa.
*The Nawab of Oudh paid Rs. 30 lakhs to the Company to retain its Nawabship.
*On the Company's instance,he also agreed to give the areas of Allahabad and Kora to the Mughal emperor,Shah Alam.
*The Nawab of Oudh became totally dependent upon the Company. The Company promised to pay a pension of Rs. 26lakhs a year to the Mughal emperor.
