According to Historians and books 1707 ( Death of Aurangzeb) is considered as end of medival Indian history and beginning of Modern Indian history.
As far as battle of Plassey(1757) is concerned it was fought between Nawab of Bengal and British, where British defeated Bengal. It is turning point in Indian History because Bengal was wealthiest State/Province then and now captured by British. So as a result British became more powerful in terms of money and military power both.
In 1764 Battle of Buxar decided that from now British will rule India.
