This can be explained as follows:
protein will be hydrolysed in amino acids.
The amino acids will again undergo breakdown (transamination and oxidative deamination) to form ammonia. Some of the ammonia undergoes urea cycle to form urea in liver, a part of which will be excreted through the collecting ducts of kidney.
