Answer:

When muscles are required to work harder than they're used to or in a different way, it's believed to cause microscopic damage to the muscle fibres, resulting in muscle soreness or stiffness. DOMS is often mistakenly believed to be caused by a build up of lactic acid, but lactic acid isn't involved in this process.  Pain influences respiration by increasing its flow, frequency, and volume. Furthermore, paced slow breathing is associated with pain reduction in some of the studies, but evidence elucidating the underlying physiological mechanisms of this effect is lacking.

Explanation:

when we do vigorous exercise our body muscles do lot of contraction and relaxation for which we require oxygen for enery when the oxygen level gets low then our muscles become stiff and satrt paining due to low energy because of insufficient oxygen in our body.

This is how pain is related with respiration.
