After working out with strenuous exercises in the gym,I found that my breathing rate was different. Can u explain how could the breathing rate be different.

Normally, breathing rate of a healthy person should be in the range of 12 – 20 per minute.


A breath comprises of the inhaling and exhaling air, which means that the concerned person can inhale and exhale 12 – 20 times in 1 minute.


However, after any vigorous physical activity, the need of oxygen in the body increases and more carbon dioxide is produced due to enhanced body metabolism.


Thus, the brain signals for faster breathing and the breathing rate becomes higher.

during heavy excercises, fast running , cycling , brisk walking or heavy lifting the demand for energy goes very high but the supply of oxygen to produce the energy is limited so our breathing rate would be different from our resting breathing rate
