this is used to separate the required cut dna strand from the rest. here in a plate agarose gel is poured, and the 2 ends are connected to electrodes. the cut dna strands are poured in the negative electrode side. since dna is negatively charged, it starts moving toward the positive electrode. the smallest particle moves fastest and farthest and vice versa. hence we can separate the desired strand from the rest.
