Aggradation and degradation together causes

Both aggradation and degradation are terms associated with rivers. The factors that influence them are sediment load, river discharge and morphological characteristics of a river channel.

Aggradation results in an increase in height of the river bed because of sediment accumulation on the river channel. On the other hand, degradation causes the channel banks to get shifted and lower the river bed. It is very unlikely that aggradation and degradation will take place together. If at all this happens, the height of the river bed will be at par with the height of the water in the river. Also, the chances of floods and droughts will be very less.

Aggradation and degradation together cause changes in the river system.

Aggradation

In geology the term refers to the increase in land elevation, particularly in a river system, because of the deposition of sediment. Aggradation takes place in the areas where the supply of sediment is more than the amount of material which can be transported by the system.

Degradation

It is a process which leads to the lowering of a river bed and the shifting of the channel banks.
