while a suspension will separate out a collide will not.collids can be distinguished from solutions using the Tyndall effect

colloid intermediate between a solution and a suspension colloid can be distinguished from solution using Tyndall effect. light passing through a colloidal dispersion, such as smoky or foggy air. will be reflected by the large particle and the light beam will be visible.
