During Joseph Stalin’s rule, he encouraged setting up of several schools in the languages of various ethnic minorities. He wanted an equal distribution of knowledge among the people, which otherwise was mainly a field of the elite class. Religion was completely banned in the schools.
With this idea of spreading literacy and numeracy, he ordered the setting up of several schools, libraries and newspapers. He also encouraged several Russian authors and scientists.
