Akshay purchased a camera at a certain price. After some days, he sold the camera to Bela at a profit of 20 %. She, in her turn, sold it to Chetan at a profit of 10 %. If Chetan sold it to David at a loss of 1,200 and the difference between Akshay's C.P. and David's C.P. is * 2,000, then find the price at which Akshay bought the camera.

Given : Akshay purchased a camera at a certain price. After some days, he sold the camera to Bela at a profit of 20 %. She, in her turn, sold it to Chetan at a profit of 10 %. If Chetan sold it to David at a loss of 1,200 and the difference between Akshay's C.P. and David's C.P. is * 2,000,

To find: the price at which Akshay bought the camera.

Solution:

Let say Akshay bought the camera = 100x

CP for Akshay = 100x

=> sold the camera to Bela at a profit of 20 %.

=> 100x + (20/100)100x = 120x

CP for Bela = 120x

She, in her turn, sold it to Chetan at a profit of 10 %

=> 120x + (10/100)120x  = 132x

CP for Chetan  = 132x

Chetan sold it to David at a loss of 1,200

132x - 1200

David CP = 132x - 1200

the difference between Akshay's C.P. and David's C.P. is * 2,000,

132x - 1200 - 100x  = 2000

=> 32x = 3200

=> x = 100

price at which Akshay bought the camera. 100x

= 100 (100)

= 10000

Akshay bought the camera for 10000
