Albert on a spaceship of mass 3400kg is on st line path between Earth and moon. Spaceship has a spped of 220m/s at a ht 2.2km above the surface of the moon. What constant force the spaceship should apply so as to reah the surface of the moon safely. Take g of moon as 1.6m/s2

The spaceship should apply a constant force of 5440 newton

Explanation :

For the spaceship to reach safely on surface of moon net force acting on the ship should be zero.

Given ,

mass of the ship, m = 3400 kg

acceleration due to gravity on moon, g = 1.6 m/s²

Hence weight of the spaceship on moon = mg

= 3400 x 1.6

= 5440 Newton

Since this weight is acting in the downward direction, hence the spaceship should apply a constant force of 5440 newton in order to reach the surface safely.
