AlCl3 is an acid . Explain it

Electronic configuration of Al 2,8,3. In AlCl3 it forms three bonds and hence outer shell has 6 electrons. Now Al needs two more electrons to complete its octet. By definition those which accepts electrons are called lewis acids. So AlCl3 is a Lewis acid.
